The definition study comprises the Couriot shaft and its annex facilities, a former large mining site in Saint-Etienne. Located a stone’s throw from the city-center, marking its West entrance, it is now partly occupied by the Saint-Etienne Mine Museum.
The Couriot site is to be considered as a site of exceptional interest. It is greatly original since it forms a rare, active and symbolic landscape right within an urban environment.
